Sometimes the best way to connect with each other is to think about someone else.

Get some perspective on how lucky you both are by volunteering for a favorite cause or attending an upcoming charity event. Here are four ways the two of you can relax, connect, and have fun – while making a difference.

In the city that never sleeps, the Yorkville Common Pantry (YCP) runs the only emergency food pantry that never closes. Every Saturday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, you can help by packing food for New Yorkers in need. Dedicated to reducing hunger and promoting self-sufficiency, the YCP provides groceries to low-income families plus showers, laundry, shelter, and job referrals to homeless men and women.

From a Sunday afternoon picnic to a Philharmonic concert on the lawn to just getting lost on a quiet winding path, Central Park has never let you down on romance. Now you can give something back. The Central Park Conservancy is having their annual Taste of Summer benefit on Wednesday, June 6, at the Naumburg Bandshell (mid-Park at 72nd Street). The benefit features chef tastings from top city restaurants, dancing under the stars, and a luxury-filled silent auction that includes travel packages, sports memorabilia, gift certificates from participating restaurants, and more. Tickets are $350 per person ($400 at the door if available).

Take a walk together and help change someone’s life. Easter Seals New York is sponsoring a 5K walk on Saturday, June 9, starting at Castle Clinton in Battery Park. For more than 80 years, Easter Seals has been providing services such as physical rehabilitation and job training to children and adults with disabilities and special needs. A few steps from you will help them reach their goals.

In a city where you have the choice of any cuisine imaginable, some people still go hungry. Celebrating 25 years of helping to feed New York City’s homebound elderly, Citymeals-on-Wheels presents Chefs Gone Wild, a Celebration of the American Farmer, on Monday, June 11. Star chefs from around the city gather in Rockefeller Center to prepare a bounty of dishes integrating fresh local ingredients into their own eclectic styles. For $1000 per couple, you can enjoy a fine meal and drinks while you spend a memorable evening together in the heart of the city for a good cause.

Reach out together and make a difference today.
