.night out: Lure Fish Bar, MercBar

twoDINE:
Lure Fish Bar

Down a small wrought-iron staircase just off the hustle and bustle of Broadway, you’ll find Lure Fish Bar, a stylish seafood restaurant designed to resemble a luxury ocean liner, with a sloped ceiling, teak paneling, porthole windows, and white leather banquettes. The oceanic décor and its location below street level will make you feel miles out to sea as you embark on this first-rate culinary adventure.

Start with a wine recommendation from the sommelier, such as the excellent Vista Monyone pinot noir, or choose a pair of fine creative cocktails, like the Honeydew Margarita and the Bourbon Storm. Then you’re ready to immerse yourself in a menu with a fine selection of fresh seafood. Split the super Crispy Calamari and half a dozen Kumamoto oysters to start, and for shared entrées we recommend the Nori-Crusted Seared Yellowfin Tuna with shiitake mushrooms and Grilled Mahi Mahi with soy-ginger marinade. You won’t mind going overboard with the Warm Chocolate Cake for dessert, with its rich chocolate chip ice cream and chocolate panna cotta. You’ll forget all about the mainland.

twoDRINK:
MercBar

Head from the water to the mountains for an after-dinner drink next door at the MercBar. With its weathered wood and burlap walls, this is more rustic lodge than fancy yacht. Walk past the wall of antlers to one of the cozy tables in the back, where you can happily return to port with two glasses of the fine Ferreria Ruby Porto.
