.Night School for Two
Plenty of singles sign up for classes with the hope of meeting Mr. or Mrs. Right, but you’re not too cool for school that you have to miss out on the higher learning.

Taking a class together is a great way to connect and spend time, and you’ll enrich not only yourself but your relationship. Learning a new skill like a language or painting can be intimidating, but it’s much easier when there are two you—and a lot more fun. You’ll have an instant study partner to rely on and get encouragement from, and when you’re done, you’ll have something entirely new in common. Plus, you’ll get to impress your friends with your “expert” status.

For busy professionals, it’s hard to find the time to take a class. When you sign up with a partner, you’re really making time for each other. Think of it as date night. In fact, most classes are probably more fun than dinner and a movie.

There are plenty of evening classes all over the city to choose from, usually from two to three hours long. Here are some of our favorites from The New School's Continuing Education Program in Union Square:

Fundamental Culinary Techniques
Improve your skill in the kitchen. Through demonstration and participation, students learn the basics of cooking and baking. The best part is that you get a mean and wine served at each session!
8 sessions. Thurs., 6:30–9:30 p.m., beg. June 7. $765; materials fee $180 payable at registration.

Beginning Drawing
Through a series of assignments with still-life arrangements and live models, students learn the importance of seeing, as well as the basic principles of drawing. Just think of the fun you’ll have later sketching each other in the nude!
15 sessions. Mon. & Wed., 6:00 PM-8:40 PM, beg. June 4. $510.00

Writing for Television
Ever think your life together could be a sitcom? Be the next Sherman and Palladino with this writing workshop. Students hone their skills in the fundamentals of comedic or dramatic writing for television in the half-hour or hour-long format.
15 sessions. Tues. & Thurs., 6:00 PM-7:50 PM, beg. June 5. $600.00

Dutch
Go double Dutch by taking on an unusual language. You’ll acquire basic speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning about Dutch culture. Then plan your trip to Amsterdam.
13 sessions. Mon. & Wed., 6:00 PM-7:50 PM, beg. June 4. $530.00
