.Sex Play
Playtime is just as important now as it was when you were a kid.

There are plenty of tips and suggestions for proper (or not so proper) play in Anne Hooper’s Sex Play, an illustrated guide to games, toys, fetishes, and fantasies. You’ll find everything you need to fire up your imagination and spice up your sexual repertoire. There are some great photos here to inspire you, and the text is refreshingly down-to-earth.

You’ll discover the difference between “good” and “naughty” games, the best way to strip and dance dirty, the ins and outs of tantric sex, and the intricacies of oil wrestling. There’s an entire chapter devoted to toys for every kind of stimulation. Since it can be hard to decide what to use, we like Hooper’s idea that you put slips of paper for each toy into an empty goldfish bowl and then pick something new every night. We also learned from the section on nibbling—from gentle “Daisy Nibbles” to the vampiric “Sucking Bites”—that sex can both bite and suck.

Some things may not be for everyone, but just a quick skim of the book will be enough for you to figure out what does turn you both on. There are even some fun quizzes to help you out. Anne Hooper is a well-respected sex expert and has written plenty of books on the subject. She says play is a great way to expand your boundaries, but that you both need to be comfortable with it first. The great thing is that the more you play, the more comfortable you’ll become.
