.(Late) Spring Break
After the tropical storm of rampaging college students on Spring Break and before the summer hurricane season, take advantage of the mellow vibe, good weather, and excellent rates in Cancún, Mexico, for your next romantic getaway.

This is the perfect time to visit Cancún, a cosmopolitan paradise on the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The weather is great and you’ll have plenty of room to enjoy the 14 gorgeous miles of white sand beaches. Water sports like snorkeling and jet-skiing are a way of life here, but you can just as easily do nothing but enjoy the ocean breeze.

Continental Airlines offers many affordable, all-inclusive packages to sunny Cancún. One resort that we love is the Allegro Playacar by Occidental Resort, about 40 minutes south of the city near Playa del Carmen. The resort’s recent $5 million renovation offers all the comforts of home, from walk-in closets to stylish bathrooms. Imagine 8 blissful days of pristine beaches, tropical drinks, and lingering dinners under the moonlight. We recommend choosing a Superior Premium room, which gets you close to the enormous pool as well as the beach. And don’t miss a taste of undersea adventure - scuba lessons are also included!

You can fly from all over the country, and prices vary by city, hotel, and date. We priced a New York City flight to Allegro Playacar for $3500 a couple. Considering these packages include airfare, accommodations, food and drink, and tons of amenities, it's just too sweet a deal not to consider!

If you stay at Allegro Playacar, or other resorts just outside of Cancún, and want more than the beach (or get stuck with a rainy day), trips into the city center of Cancún can be easily arranged. You’ll find great shopping, a host of first-class restaurants like the wonderful and romantic La Habichuela, as well as a couple of excellent museums that will give you a primer on Mayan culture. Located in the city’s beautiful convention center, the National Institute of History and Anthropology houses an impressive collection of 1000- to 1500-year-old artifacts excavated from nearby ancient sites.

Cancún feels like a different place when it’s not overrun with college students, so enjoy this premier island destination without feeling like you’re over the hill at 30!
